Last month, the Wall Street Journal posted an article about how the current demand for mobile ads has resulted to a profit surge for Alphabet Inc., Google’s parent company. As more advertisers began shifting to mobile and capturing more users in the process, Alphabet Inc. is now enjoying a 24% increase in profit.
According to the press release, the company’s growth “continued in the second quarter as companies bought more ads on its search engine and other products, while users clicked more on those ads.” The revenue was $17.5 billion, almost a billion dollars more than what analysts have estimated. And get this, bulk of said revenue came from Google’s advertising business.
“Okay,” you say. “But I’m not Google. What does this have to do with me?”
Great question, because this has got a lot to do with you as a business owner.
First things first, how are your marketing efforts coming along? What strategies have you used to advertise your brand and how well have they worked so far? Most importantly, have you tried mobile marketing?
I’ve met clients who have been rather apprehensive about mobile marketing, and I couldn’t really blame them. After all, managing Google’s mobile ads can get tedious and technical for someone who doesn’t have the proper background and experience. But because your audience is now actively consuming more mobile-based content, I see no reason why you shouldn’t take advantage of mobile marketing as well.
Consider the reach.
While word-of-mouth marketing is very credible and ideal, it also takes a long time to cultivate. With today’s advanced technology, majority of your target market is now accessing a lot of content on their mobile phones and Google ads enables you to reach all of them with the simple touch of a button.
Mobile ads get you traffic.
Every time a person uses the Google search engine to look for something, the keywords they use generate ads on the pages they visit. This means that your ads can almost immediately reach people who are searching for what you have, translating to potential traffic to your website.
Be on target.
The great thing about Google ads is that you can zero in on your desired target market. Do you have a product that would appeal to women in their mid-20s to late 40s? Do you provide services to middle-aged people living in Utah? With Google ads, you can identify your target demographic and make sure that you’re advertising to the right people.
There are so many ways that Google ads can benefit your marketing efforts; it’s just a matter of being open to the possibilities.
